Marriage is essentially the foundation of society. This is the belief of the Chinese who view a nation as nothing more than a collection of families. In fact, their word for 'country' is essentially expressed as 'country of families'.

When a family is secure, children are secure. Both parents are around to provide guidance. The father and mother complement each other to bring up the children. Both have temperaments that are individually useful in some circumstances and useless in others. But together, they are useful in all circumstances.
